Holding a tile sample in the actual room is useful, but the repeat still needs to be seen.
A sample in real light
A gray and white geometric tile sample is held over a rough floor. This is a useful design moment: a sample can look different in the room than it did online, especially beside the existing wall color and light.
Holding a sample over the real floor is a small but valuable step. The background color of the room changes how the gray and white geometry reads. One piece also hides how often the pattern repeats. Lay out several tiles or sheets and look from the doorway before deciding that a sample has answered the whole design question.
Testing a tile choice
- 1View sample in room light
- 2Lay several pieces together
- 3Check thickness and intended use
- 4Review the base and threshold
What one piece cannot tell you
Tile selection should be followed by a check of size, thickness, slip suitability for the intended area, and the supporting floor assembly. Samples help with color, but the full pattern needs several pieces placed together to show its repeat.
Keep the sample in the room at different times of day. When you request a quote, include the product link and say whether the tile is for a dry bathroom floor or a wet shower floor.
